Our Story

A practice founded on listening,
not just advising

Banya Rak began with a simple belief: that people dealing with difficult family matters deserve a calm, honest space where they can understand their situation — free from pressure or confusion.

About Banya Rak

Clarity in difficult moments

Banya Rak — which draws from Thai words meaning "home" and "care" — was established in Bangkok to offer a different kind of family law practice. One where clients are not hurried through decisions, where fees are discussed openly, and where the emphasis is always on understanding rather than urgency.

Our work covers the range of circumstances that families face: initial questions about what options exist, guidance on parenting and shared arrangements, and fuller support when matters become more involved. In each case, the approach is the same — measured, transparent, and led by what the client actually needs.

We work primarily in Bangkok and with clients who have connections to Thailand. Our team keeps caseloads intentionally small so that each client receives consistent attention rather than being passed between staff.

Our mission

To offer accessible, honest family law guidance that helps people move forward with clarity — at a pace and in a manner that respects their circumstances.

Our approach

We explain things in plain language, agree costs before starting, provide written summaries, and never push a particular course of action. The decision stays with you.

Where we work

Based in Phra Nakhon, Bangkok. We meet clients in person at our office and, where appropriate, can discuss preliminary matters by phone or email first.

How we work — our professional standards

A set of commitments we apply consistently across every matter, regardless of complexity or scope.

Strict confidentiality

All information shared with us is treated as confidential. We do not discuss client matters with third parties without prior consent, and our records are securely maintained.

Written scope and fees upfront

Before any work of substance begins, we confirm the scope and cost in writing. Clients are not asked to proceed on the basis of a verbal understanding alone.

Regular, clear communication

We keep clients informed at every significant stage. If your matter is ongoing, you will know what has happened, what is next, and what, if anything, is needed from you.

Child welfare as a priority

In any matter involving children, we keep their stability and wellbeing as a central consideration throughout — not only when it becomes legally necessary to do so.

Thai legal framework

Our advice is grounded in Thai law as it applies to family matters, including the Civil and Commercial Code provisions relevant to marriage, children, and related proceedings.

No pressure, ever

We do not encourage decisions under time pressure, and we do not use urgency as a persuasion tool. Clients take the next step when they are ready — or not at all.

Family law in Bangkok — what to expect from Banya Rak

Family law in Thailand is governed primarily by the Civil and Commercial Code, which sets out the legal framework for marriage, parental rights, child custody, and property matters between spouses. The process can feel unfamiliar, especially to those who have not had previous contact with the legal system.

At Banya Rak, we work with clients who are at the beginning of understanding what their options are, as well as those who are further along and need more direct assistance. The initial meeting is designed to give you enough information to decide whether and how to proceed — with no obligation attached to the conversation itself.

Parenting matters — who a child lives with, how time is shared, and how decisions about their upbringing are made — are among the most sensitive areas of family law, and the ones where the quality of legal guidance matters most. We approach these matters with care, and we try to support arrangements that reflect what is actually best for the children involved.

For matters that require ongoing support, we work transparently on scope and fees so clients are never uncertain about what they have committed to. Our office is in Phra Nakhon, a central part of Bangkok with good access from most areas of the city. We see clients by appointment, Monday to Saturday.
